Dr. Linda Cole and Dr. Anju Clement are
available for all your eye exam needs.
At our office we offer complete eye examinations, eyeglasses, contact lenses and laser surgery consultations. We pride ourselves on
providing a comprehensive eye exam to ensure your eyes are healthy and that there are no signs of any other problems. We use the latest in
technology, and well-trained staff, to ensure you receive the best care available.
We have some evening appointments available for your convenience.
Free parking is available directly in front of
our building, and in the adjacent municipal parking lot.
Please call our office to arrange to see one of
our doctors, or drop in without appointment to choose glasses from our extensive selection.
We also accept other doctors' prescriptions,
for purchasing glasses.
Dr. Linda Cole
Dr. Linda M.A. Cole graduated from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry, and moved to Cobourg in 1991. Prior to this she
obtained a Bachelor of Science (Dean's list, 1987) at the University of Guelph. Her Doctor of Optometry internship was completed in clinic
at the University of Waterloo and included mobile clinics to scools, homes for seniors and special care facilities. Dr. Cole worked in
Cobourg, Colborne and Belleville practices before establishing her own solo practice in Northumberland Mall in February 1994.
After a second expansion in April 1999, Dr. Clement joined Dr. Cole as an associate. The doctors became partners in November 2006 when
they initiated the building of their full-scope practice at 45 Covert St, which opened in Feburary 2007.
Dr. Cole is the mother of three school-aged children. And her husband, a member of the local Rotary chapter, manages a family-owned
business in Cobourg.
Dr. Anju Clement
Dr. Clement graduated from the University
of Waterloo Optometry program with honours
in 1996. During her training she completed an externship for ocular eye disease in Memphis, Tennessee. This training was at a
Vitreo-Retinal Institute, which has given her valuable experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases. In 1999, she began
practicing with Dr. Cole part-time, and enjoyed it so much that she has made this her permanent full-time practice. Dr. Clement is fully
trained in the co-management of laser corrective surgery, and is affiliated with TLC, and Herzig Eye Institute. She is a member of the
Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. In 2005 she received a 'Clinical Excellence Award' from
Herzig Eye Institute in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the co-management of Cataract & Refractive surgery

Eye Exams
We can provide you with a comprehensive eye exam to check for glasses, and most importantly to ensure that the eyes are healthy. Eye exams can also detect other health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and stroke. We have a state of the art facility and the most up
to date equipment available to ensure you are getting the best care possible.
It is recommended everyone have their eyes tested yearly, even if you feel you are seeing well. Some eye diseases have no symptoms,
and it is possible to have 20/20 vision and have an eye disease you are not aware of. We can often detect the early signs of disease during
a routine exam.
Early detection is very important, as blindness
is often preventable.
Children
Children should start having their eyes tested by age 4 at the latest. But you should bring them
in earlier if you feel they may have a problem. We can examine kids of any age, even infants. Preschoolers are tested using a picture chart,
so they don't have to know their letters to be examined. Certain conditions may be untreatable if diagnosed after the age of 5. Children and parents are often unaware of problems, as there can sometimes be no signs or symptoms.
Yearly eye exams are covered with OHIP
for children until they are 20 years of age.
Seniors (over 65) are also covered yearly
with OHIP.
Eyeglasses
We carry a wide selection of fashionable frames at very reasonable prices. We have most of the well known brands, as well as some unique styles from Europe. All of our frames come with a 2 year warranty against defects or breakage due
to normal wear.
Our eyeglass fitter has over 20 years experience, and can help you choose the most suitable glasses for both cosmetic appeal, and function. She is very knowledgeable about lenses and can recommend the best lenses for you based on your individual needs. Every person has different needs, and it is important that you get the best lens choice for you. With so many lens choices available now, it can be confusing!
Sunglasses
It is important for everyone to have proper UV protection whenever outdoors, even on overcast days! Damage from UV rays, can lead to many eye diseases such as cataracts, and macular degeneration. Years of unprotected sun exposure can add up over a lifetime.
Polarized lenses are also available, which helps
to decrease reflections off of surfaces like cars, snow, and especially water. They are a must for anyone who spends time on the water. They can also help if you have problems with glare.
We offer excellent quality name brand sunglasses, most of which can be made
with your prescription.
It is possible to have fashion AND function!
Contact Lenses
We have the experience and training to properly fit you with contact lenses that will be comfortable, and give you good vision. There are many lens choices available, including coloured lenses, ones for astigmatism, and even bifocal lenses. There are also some new lens choices that are designed for people with dry eyes. New silicone-hydrogel lenses are the latest technology available in contact lenses. They allow significantly more oxygen to the cornea than previous contacts, which is needed for good corneal health. These healthier contacts, can allow you to wear your contacts longer with a decreased risk of damage to the eyes.
Because you are getting your contacts fitted by your doctor, if any minor adjustments need to be made it makes the process much easier. This is especially important for more complicated fittings like astigmatism, and bifocal contact lenses.
Laser Surgery
Our doctors are both fully trained in laser surgery co-management. We can provide you with pre and post-op care for your surgery. We have very good relationships with both TLC and Herzig laser eye centres. We can discuss this option with you when you come in for your routine eye exam.
Dr. Clement has had laser surgery herself, as well as our staff member Nancy.
